Hey! I’m Sarah Stevens and I’m the Lazy Housewife! I live on a small plot of land in Central Maine with my husband, 3 kids and a few dogs and cats. I grew up in Maine in a family that did “backyard homesteading” before it was called that. I grew up weeding vegetables, canning and preserving, and hanging clothes on the wash line.
We lived a lifestyle that was a happy balance of old-fashioned living and modern comfort.
In 1999 that all changed when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. From ’99 to ’06 our lives were uprooted many times in many ways. The biggest was when my mother passed from her illness a week away from her birthday in 2006.
In early 2007 I met the man who would be my husband. We married in 2010, in 2012 I made the choice to become a housewife to care for our 1-year-old son. In those first few weeks home I realized how ‘lazy’ life seemed. Even though I was busy with a toddler, and expecting our second child I felt like I had too much free time.
I spent time reading and reading, I taught myself to crochet, then I started freezer cooking, then gardening. It’s been a domino effect to self-sufficient living. Here is where I will be documenting our journey from hobby gardening to full-fledged homesteading!
Thanks for visiting and happy reading!!
